a x r ▲ napa valley 2018
the 2018 vintage was a slow-growing season with very little heat spells which allowed the fruit to ripen steadily while protecting the acidity. it ended up giving fruit that was harvested at optimum conditions with the ripeness that the winemaker could choose since there was no rain threat at all in the late season. this translated in the cellar into wines that are complex, juicy yet framed with beautiful acidity.
on the rim: deep, dark charcoal with touches of mahogany and lilac
on the nose: complex nose with herbs, spices, fruit and fern with rose and potpourri, lingering on blueberry, strawberry, clay, chocolate, and redwood
on the palate: velvety, elegant entrance evolving on a fresh and fruity mid-palate with raspberry and red cherry, lingering on peaches, mulberry and plum
