axr ritchie vineyard chardonnay 2018
the 2018 vintage was a slow-growing season with very little heat spells which allowed the fruit to ripen steadily while protecting the acidity. it ended up giving fruit that was harvested at optimum conditions with the ripeness that the winemaker could choose since there was no rain threat at all in the late season. this translated in the cellar into wines that are complex, juicy yet framed with beautiful acidity.
on the rim: bright, shiny yellow gold with touches of corn and canary
on the nose: beautiful toasted brioche, apricot, crème brulee, canned pineapple and lemon blossom
on the palate: round entrance evolving on fresh mid-palate with citrus notes, linger on minerality and white flowers, yellow currant, lemon and pink grapefruit
