AxR1 2019
The 2019 vintage started with lots of winter and spring rain and in the summer it showed some similarities with 2018 with a little extra power to it. We had fewer heat spells than normal, but it was overall a little warmer than 2018. This translated into a long but warm growing season which gave us really nice ripeness and dense wines. We were also saved by some really nice morning fog that slowed down the ripening. For those that like dense, complex red wines with still a great acidity you will fall in love with this vintage.
tasting notes
on the rim: shiny, dark black cherry with touches of currant and velvet
on the nose: beautiful nose of cedar, thyme, nutmeg and cassis with dark cherry, licorice and plum
on the palate: dense but fresh entrance evolving on freshly picked red cherry, red currant and macerated strawberry, lingering on granular tannins and spices
