axr sleeping lady 2019
The 2019 vintage started with lots of winter and spring rain and in the summer it showed some similarities with 2018 with a little extra power to it. We had fewer heat spells than normal, but it was overall a little warmer than 2018. This translated into a long but warm growing season which gave us really nice ripeness and dense wines. We were also saved by some really nice morning fog that slowed down the ripening. For those that like dense, complex red wines with still a great acidity you will fall in love with this vintage.
on the rim: shiny light eggplant with touches of fuchsia and ruby red on the rim
on the nose: beautiful nose of pencil shavings and roasted coffee bean with blueberry jam and paprika
on the palate: soft entrance evolving on a structured mid-palate in a velvet glove with a salty cassis reduction, lingering on a sexy, round finish
