axr ganzin chardonnay 2020
Ganzin is a reference to Victor Ganzin who is credited with the hybridization of the AxR1 rootstock. The axr rootstock was the origin of the research which gave vintners an understanding of the influence of a rootstock on wine and a vines capacity to adapt to the soil. Paying homage to traditional winemaking with a modern twist, this chardonnay spent 16 months in 25% new french oak to respect the fragile profile of the Burgundy clones that we use.
tasting notes
on the rim: bright, shiny yellow gold with touches of green and daffodil
on the nose: explosion of caramel, vanilla and toasted brioche with slate, apricot, pear and pineapple lingering on jasmine soap
on the palate: round but fresh entrance evolving on a citrus mid palate with lemon, grapefruit and white peach, lingering on a beautiful backbone of sandstone and limestone
